The parallels to COVID-19 are unsettling, but that may be why it's the perfect time to bring the story to the small screen.

The episode follows a scientist who specializes in fungi as he realizes the severity of the cordyceps outbreak, and the police's inability to identify the first infected person.

The episode then jumps to 2023, where we see Tess, Joel, and Ellie on their way to the Massachusetts State House.

While the episode is light on zombie action, it focuses on human survival and how society is coping with the apocalypse.

Later on, the group encounters the infected, including a Clicker, which is a deadly and difficult-to-defeat type of infected.

The sequence where they hide from the infected is tense and thrilling.

However, some scenes that would have been stealth missions in the game feel less engaging on the TV show.
