This led to President Dana White quickly arranging for Glover Teixeira to fight the seventh-ranked Hill for the belt.

But Jamahal Hill's extra efforts and incredible toughness in the cage against Teixeira led to him feeling like a legitimate champion by the end of the fight.

Hill showed his skills by staying off his back during the entirety of Round 1 and setting a tone that Teixeira couldn't overpower him on the ground.

He then used his superb boxing and poise to chip away at Teixeira, showcasing five-round championship stamina and passing every test Teixeira had for him.

This was a mature and impressive performance for Hill, who at 31 years old and with an 11-1 record, had not previously received much recognition.
