The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Rams are in serious talks over a trade that would send three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey to Miami, according to CBS Sports and the NFL Network on Sunday.
The CBS Sports report called the talks “deep discussions” and while the deal is not yet finalized, it added that there is “a high likelihood” it will happen.
The Dolphins, on the eve of free agent trades starting Monday, are in the market for a top cornerback. The team recently cut Byron Jones following his botched rehab from left leg surgery in March 2022, which never allowed him to suit up for Miami last season. The Dolphins also had fellow cornerback Xavien Howard struggling with groin injuries despite earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2022, and nickel cornerback Nik Needham’s season ended prematurely with an Achilles tendon injury.
Ramsey made three All-Pros and six Pro Bowls in seven NFL seasons with the Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars. He was a member of Los Angeles’ 2021 Super Bowl-winning team. The former Florida State standout has 19 career interceptions, including four in each of the last two seasons, and 92 passes defensed.
