fire safety classes
This spring, the Santa Clara County Fire Department will host several webinars to help prepare residents for the area’s unpredictable fire season. In April, the department will host informational sessions on ways to reduce damage to homes during wildfires, as well as sessions on how to handle evacuations during high-stress situations. In May, officials will teach residents how to use homeowners insurance as a “safety net”.
An April 26 webinar on crime prevention and home fire safety is aimed at residents of Campbell and other communities served by county firefighters. The class will be taught in partnership with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
Attendees will learn how to protect themselves against fraud and identity theft, what to do if they fall victim to a scam, personal and home safety tips, and how to spot suspicious activity and report it.
They will also learn home fire safety tips and how to practice important safety habits to prevent home fires. Other topics include creating a home escape plan, how to call 911 in an emergency, and an overview of community safety resources.
This training class is scheduled for 10-11:30 am. To register, visit SCCFD.Eventbrite.com.
