PLEASANT HILL – An officer fired on a robbery suspect’s vehicle Saturday afternoon before arresting the individual, police said.

At 3:26 pm, the Pleasant Hill Police Department received a report of an armed robbery at a Verizon store in the 600 block of Contra Costa Boulevard. Two suspects entered the store, threatened employees saying they had a gun and then stole several cellphones, police said.

The suspects fled in a vehicle and were later located by police near Harrison Street and Concord Avenue in Concord. After refusing to surrender, the driver of the vehicle turned towards one of the officers, prompting him to fire his gun. The officer hit the car but did not hit the driver.

At that time, the second suspect fled on foot while the vehicle was pursued by Concord deputies and Contra Costa Sheriff’s deputies until the individual was arrested at Bay Point. The second suspect has not yet been arrested by the police.
