Snow continues to fall in Maine tonight, the start of our third storm in just seven days. The snow will be heavy until midnight, especially from the lake region to the mountains. A winter storm warning remains in effect for areas offshore through Thursday. Snow rates can approach 1 to 1.5″ per hour on either side of midnight. Snow will quickly accumulate and cause reduced visibility. Winds will also pick up overnight, especially along the mid-coast Gusts of 40-45 mph are possible at dawn. By midnight we will see snow change to rain and freezing rain in many locations as temperatures warm up along the coast. fair will be a muddy mess for everyone, but particularly inland areas where they will be clearing several inches of snow. Conditions will improve by noon and the sky will clear during the afternoon.

Thursday morning’s commute will be a muddy mess for everyone, but particularly in the inland areas where they will be shoveling several inches of snow.
