Daisy Anguiano, who shared a clip of the incident online, said the stuntman fell off one of the studio’s high-rise towers as part of the act, before it became clear the planned stunt had gone horribly wrong.

She said ABC7: ‘It was a full house, as it happened in front of everyone.

“I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, something or someone could be drowning. It could be the person who just made the fall. Did something happen?’

She said the terrifying accident happened near the end of the show, when the WaterWorld villain catches fire and plummets into the water.

It is currently unclear what caused the medical emergency, whether the stuntman was injured by the fall, the water impact, or suffered a separate medical emergency.

The shocked crowd watched as one of the performers scrambled for a life jacket, while other staff members pulled the unconscious double out of the water to a behind-the-scenes area.

“Everyone on the staff and crew is doing this together to not let this person die,” Anguiano added. He was unconscious while being pulled out of the water.

The artist received CPR for more than five minutes as staff urgently attempted to resuscitate him, before paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital.

The packed show was eventually cancelled, and the traumatized tourists were escorted out of the studio. So far the status of the interpreter is unknown.

The WaterWorld show is based on a 1995 blockbuster film of the same name. The hit movie starred Kevin Costner in a post-apocalyptic epic that was the most expensive movie ever made at the time.

Production takes place at Universal Studios theme parks in Hollywood, Japan and Singapore.

A spokesperson for Universal Studios Hollywood confirmed that the artist remains in the hospital, saying: “Our thoughts are with him as he receives care.” Details related to the event are being reviewed.
