Oklahoma Schools Closing, Switching to Remote Learning Wednesday Due to Winter Weather

Below is a look at closings in Oklahoma

WE HAVE MULTIPLE TEAMS AND HUNTERS ON THE GROUND NOW GIVING US A LOOK AT ALL THE WINTER CONDITIONS WE ARE SEEING. BUT FIRST, LET’S GO TO CHIEF METEOROLOGIST DAMON LANE WHO IS JOINING US, ALONG WITH METEOROLOGIST SABRINA BATES. YES, GOOD AFTERNOON. DEFINITELY OUR WINTER STORM IS CONTINUE HERE. YOU CAN SEE SNOW FOR OKC TO THE SOUTHWEST. IT WAS A DAY THAT STARTED WITH RAIN. TURNED INTO SNOW. IT WAS VERY HEAVY AND WET SNOW. BUT AS THE TEMPERATURES ARE ONLY AROUND 32 DEGREES, SOME AREAS ARE STILL DEALING WITH STILL WATER COLD RAIN AS YOU RIDE UP TOWARDS TULSA. BUT FOR OKC, IT WAS SNOW AND IT’S BEEN A LONG, VERY HEAVY RAIN. VERY BIG THOSE SNOWFLAKES COMING DOWN TOO. YOU MAY SEE A LITTLE MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW NORTH OF OKC, UP OF GUTHRIE, BUT TO OKLAHOMA COUNTY, THE SNOW COMES DOWN FROM EDMOND TO DOWNTOWN OKC, THE INTENSITY, THE SNOW IS GOING AHEAD, TO GO BACK AND TO GO BACK, BUT FOR THE MOST PART IT WILL CONTINUE TO DECREASE AS WE GO INTO THE NIGHT HERE. FIRST, LET’S GO TO METEOROLOGIST MICHAEL ARMSTRONG’S FIELD. A STORM COMMAND, AN EXTREME SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA COUNTY. MICHAEL, HOW ARE THE ROADS THIS AFTERNOON? WELL, THERE WAS DAMON, BUT WE STILL HAVE THIS SNOW THAT IS FALLING, AS YOU MENTIONED, WHERE THE 240 AND EAST HERE IN THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF OKC, REMOVING MORE TINKER FROM THE TINKER AIR FORCE BASE SNOW RATES. AT THE TIME I WOULD CALL THEM VERY MODERATE LIKE LOW TO MODERATE IN INTENSITY. AND IF YOU KEEP THAT RATE, I THINK WE WILL STILL GET OVER THE WET ROADS FOR YOUR NIGHT WORK. BACK FOR YOU. YES, I THINK YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT, MICHAEL, ESPECIALLY AS SOME OF THE COLDEST TEMPERATURES WE HAD WERE REALLY EARLY THIS MORNING IN WEST OKLAHOMA. AND THE ROADS REALLY NEVER GOT THAT BAD EVEN THERE TOO. LET’S CHECK WITH DERIK KLINE NOW. DERIK KLINE WILL BE SOUTH OF NORMAN. DEREK, HOW ARE THINGS IN CLEVELAND COUNTY? YES. DAMON, SO THERE’S A FEW INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND HERE. WE STILL HAVE THE KIND MICHAEL WAS TALKING ABOUT, LIKE ALMOST MODERATE SNOW FALLING NOW. IT’S SNOWING BASICALLY ALL DAY HERE IN ABOUT TWO INCHES OF SNOW NOW ON THE GROUND BUT THE ROADS ARE GOOD. SO TRAVELING AIN’T NOTHING BAD HERE IN NORMAN. BUT WE WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH IT AS THE SUN GOES DOWN. IF WE DO SIDES TO CATCH A LITTLE HEAVIER SNOW, MAYBE WE CATCH SOME ON THE ROADS. BUT FROM NOW ON, WET ROADS ONLY. BACK FOR YOU. YES, AND FOR THE PM COMMUNITY, WINTER STORM WARNING, THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST SCENARIO WE CAN SEE. YES THE ROADS ARE WET BUT A WINTER STORM WARNING AND ALL THE SNOW THAT HAS FALLED DURING THE DAY. THE FACT THAT THE ROADS ARE JUST WET THIS IS CERTAINLY A LOT OF NEWS WELCOME HERE TO COME SIDE TO SEMINOLE, DOWN TO HOLDEVILLE. IT’S SNOW. SOME OF THE HEAVIES OF SNOW AND THESE HEAVIES OF SNOW ARE TO THE SOUTH AND EAST OF I-44. AND THEN THROUGH OKLAHOMA’S EXTREME WEST, SNOW FROM I-35 PAULS VALLEY TO WYNNEWOOD AND THEN IT COMES BACK TO RAIN AS YOU GO SOUTH OF TURNER FALLS. OTHERWISE, GO DOWN THE HIGHWAY TOWARDS LAWTON. THE DARKER THE BLUE AS YOU SEE IT HERE. LET’S GIVE YOU SOME OF THE HEAVY SNOW. SO THAT’S WHAT WE’RE SEEING HERE RIGHT NOW IN SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA. BUT DRIER AIR IS NOW BEING PULLED IN. WE SEE SOME OF THAT NOW FROM NEAR KINGFISHER TO WATAUGA AND THEN CLINTON, WEATHERFORD AND OUT OF ELMORE CITY BTW, ELK CITY TO THE FAR WEST OF OKLAHOMA, TOUCHING CHEYENNE TO SEVEN INCHES OF SNOW FELL THIS MORNING. VERY HEAVY AND WET SNOW. OTHERWISE IN NORTH OKLAHOMA, SOME LIGHT SNOW FOR WOODWARD, DOESN’T REALLY IMPACT MUCH ON THE TRIP. THE SAME THING TO THE CITY OF PONCA TO BLAME BRAMAN BLACKWELL AND AS YOU PASS TO PERRY OFFICIALLY AT WILL ROGERS WORLD AIRPORT, WE HAD AN INCH OF SNOW. HOW MUCH MORE SNOW ARE WE GOING TO ADD ON TOP OF THAT WHEN THE SYSTEM LEAVES HERE? WE WILL SHOW YOU COMING. BACK FOR YOU. ALL RIGHT DAVID, THANK YOU AS ALWAYS. AND AS WE CONTINUE OUR TEAM COVERAGE NOW WITH KOCO IS KYLIE THOMAS. KYLIE, YOU WERE IN WEST OKLAHOMA WHERE THEY ARE SEEING HEAVY SNOW. THEY COULD BE THE BIG WINNERS IN WEST OKLAHOMA. WHAT ARE YOU SEEING AND HOW ARE THE ROADS? WHAT ARE YOU SEEING AND ON THE ROAD? YES IT’S RIGHT. IT’S BEEN SNOWING FOR 5 HOURS ENTIRELY HERE IN CHICKASHA. AS YOU CAN SEE IT IS BEGINNING TO BUILD UP ON THE GRASS AND TREES NEARBY. AND THEY ARE NO LONGER THE BIG, FLUFFY SNOWFLAKES WE HAVE SEEN PREVIOUSLY. THIS IS MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU EXPECTED FOR SNOWBALLS. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE ROADS WILL REMAIN CLEAR FOR MOST OF THE DAY. TRUCKS ARE STOPPED. THIS GOOD NEWS FOR YOU WHO ARE GOING HOME FROM WORK. YOU WILL STAY HERE WHILE THE SNOW CONTINUES
