OAKLAND – A mass shooting at an Oakland gas station on Monday night killed at least one person and injured at least seven others, the second mass shooting in the Bay Area on Monday and the third in California in three days.
The shooting was reported shortly after 6:00 pm in the 5900 block of MacArthur Boulevard on Seminary Avenue, adjacent to the Mills College grounds. Oakland Police said officers were investigating a ShotSpotter activation in the area and found that there had been a gunfight between multiple individuals.
The shooting took place while filming a music video in the area, according to an independent journalist on the scene who provided video footage to CBS News Bay Area.
Police officers who arrived at the scene did not find any victims, but located several bullet casings. The department then learned that several gunshot victims had self-transported to area hospitals.
