At least one person was injured in a shooting at a Walmart in Evansville, Indiana, on Thursday night, with the alleged gunman later shot and killed by police, according to the Evansville Police Department.
Police first heard reports of a shooting at 9:59 pm, according to Evansville Police Sgt. Anna Gray at a Thursday night press conference. When they arrived, they found the suspect who fired multiple shots at officers, Gray said. The officers fired, killing the suspect again.
No officers were injured during the encounter with the suspect.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, police said, but it is not clear what his condition is at this time. Gray said there could be more casualties as people ran out of the store during the shooting. She urges anyone who may have been injured to contact the police.
The suspect has not been identified and the reason for the shooting has not been reported.
The Evansville Police Department is conducting the ongoing investigation, police said.
