The battle of the brightest in the stars of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” continues.
The best acts from the international “Got Talent” franchise continue to take part in NBC’s super competition (Monday, 8 EST/PST) with their sights set on the finale. Among the show’s judges, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, only Cowell had the ability to hit the Golden Buzzer on Monday, securing one act’s spot in the finale. (Second place in the final would be decided by a panel of “superfans” voters, while eight other hopefuls faced elimination once more.)

Cowell wows with his selection of Golden Buzzer
Mike E. Winfield, a comedian from season 17 of “AGT,” once again made the judges laugh. He joked about his stepson, whom he calls “stepfather” due to his similar age, staying out too late. “I drove around the corner to pick him up (from a party), I got home three hours later,” Winfield said. His wife said, “Michael, have you been drinking?” I’m like, ‘We have some of the same friends. They were all there. He is still there. I’m going to look for him again.’
“You are that ray of sunshine, and I love you,” Klum said ravingly. “You are hilarious.”
Cowell predicted that if Winfield had performed the evening’s routine earlier, “it could have been a whole different story, because you’ve come back funnier, more confident. I can even see in your eyes how much this means to you right now.” “
“It means everything,” Winfield said. “This is what I have wanted forever. I wanted ‘AGT’. I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and you fly under the radar, then you finally get a platform. There is no time to take off or put on the brakes. I’m here to play.”
Cowell, noting the audience’s adoration for the standup, gave him the Golden Buzzer. “You know what, Mike? I love, love, love people who compete,” Cowell said, “and I didn’t expect to do this, but I will.”

Saxophonist Avery Dixon hits all the right notes
Saxophonist Avery Dixon, a contestant on season 17 of “AGT” who won a Golden Buzzer from host Terry Crews at the time, returned Monday.
The young musician, who grabbed the saxophone after being intimidated by his voice, said he was competing for his mom: “I’m here to get her that house and win it all.”
Dixon gave himself a fighting chance when he and his band delivered a spirited rendition of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” that brought a Klum dancer to her feet.
“That’s how you do it!” she said, smiling.
Mandel praised Dixon’s evolution. “You stepped it up,” Mandel said. “You went from being an amazing talent to an amazing show. You are a show!”

Bir Khalsa is an almost unwatchable act for Cowell
Bir Khalsa, a dangerous stunt performer group that first appeared in season 14, showed they were ready for “All-Stars” with a terrifying act that Cowell found difficult to watch.
For a moment, a blindfolded member of the four-person group took up a sword and cut coconuts into slices that rested on another member’s neck. “I can not stand it!” said an eager Crews.
For another trick, the blindfolded member smashed coconuts and watermelons, outlining his collaborator’s body with a mallet. “I can’t look,” Mandel said, hands cupped nervously on his head.

As the mallet came close to hitting a watermelon on the group member’s head, Cowell covered his eyes. After a swing, Cowell, who had walked away from the stage, asked, “Is he alive?”
For the group’s final feat, the blindfolded man sliced an apple between the heads of two companions with a chainsaw.
“That’s by far the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” Mandel said.
“Always!” Klum agreed. “It was exhausting to watch! You guys are crazy crazy, and it was amazing, it was so entertaining. It was so good. I couldn’t look away.”
Cowell said the group would get their vote for the final.
Who did the superfans select?
Expanding on the suspense of the panel selection, Crews revealed his Top 3 for the finale. (Remember they can only select one act to advance.)
As much as the Bir Khalsa impressed the judges, the group was nowhere to be seen. The teams revealed Dixon; Keren Montero, singer who won “Dominicana’s Got Talent” in 2021; and “AGT” season 16 mind reader Peter Antoniou, whom Cowell said lacked showmanship, were the panel’s top choices.
But it was Dixon who the fan votes pushed into the next round.
