Aaron Carter’s family believe his death was not due to drowning in his bathtub, but rather an overdose after a drug deal gone bad.
The troubled singer died at the age of 34 November 5. A Los Angeles sheriff’s spokesman told The Post that deputies responded to Carter’s residence at 10:58 a.m. local time and found one person deceased.
No cause of death was released, but sources said at the time Carter was discovered in his bathtub after a 911 call was made about a “drowning.”
Now his fiancee Melanie Martin and her mother Jane Carter have he told TMZ They were told by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office that no water was found in Carter’s lungs, ruling out drowning as a possible cause of death.
The Post has reached out to representatives for the Carter family for comment.
Martin, who recently regained full custody of her 1-year-old son Prince, claims she found text messages on her late fiancé’s phone with a conversation about owing $800 to an unidentified person for an unknown substance.
She said that Carter had told the person that he no longer needed the drug, and the person responded that he was still owed the money. Carter allegedly responded by asking if he was being threatened, but the conversation ended there.

Martin told TMZ that he met with investigators last week and sent the text messages as evidence. He also joined Carter’s mother in revealing that the coroner is still awaiting toxicology results to determine what substances were in the teen idol’s system when he died, and the family wants police to investigate the alleged drug deal the night of Aaron’s death.

Carter’s family now believe that he possibly met the unknown person before his death and may have taken a drug that led to his death.
Martin formerly he told page six that Carter “didn’t know how to escape his demons” and was often “tricked” into partying, which was a struggle for him as he tried to sober up.
Police were called to Carter’s Los Angeles home in November following a 911 call about a drowning. They found his body in his bathtub with the jets still running.

Police believe that Carter’s body must have been in the bathtub for a long period of time due to the unnatural color of the water and the smell of decomposition.
Cops reportedly found bottles of prescription pills as well as multiple canisters of compressed air in the singer’s bathroom and bedroom, police sources previously reported. he told TMZ.
Carter’s death certificate released in November revealed that the singer was cremated and indicated that an autopsy was performed, but the cause of death was deferred at that time.
