Snow piled up in the Lake Tahoe region on Monday morning, prompting officials to warn of dangerous conditions for morning and evening commuting, while areas of California and neighboring Nevada faced heavy rain and blizzards.
Resorts in the popular ski region, including Soda Springs, saw up to 26 inches in the past 24 hours, while others, like the Sugar Bowl resort, saw a proportionately modest 7 inches. More snow is expected throughout the afternoon, where a winter storm watch remains in effect until 10 pm local time, according to the National Weather Service.
