Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) special agents Thursday arrested Alysia Adams, 30, on two counts of child neglect in connection with Tuesday’s disappearance of 4-year-old Athena Brownfield.

OSBI announced the arrest Thursday afternoon when Adams was registered with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office. Athena and her sister were in the care of Adams and her husband at the time of their disappearance, according to the sheriff’s office.

“The search for Athena continues. OSBI is following up on all tips received from Oklahoma as well as other states. In an effort to find clues to Athena’s whereabouts, the trash service on Cyril [was searched],” OSBI said in a press release on Thursday. “Additionally, analysts are reviewing Cyril’s surveillance videos and looking for other evidence that might help locate Athena.”

Authorities initially reported Athena missing Tuesday afternoon after a mailman found her 5-year-old sister wandering alone on Nebraska Avenue in Cyril at around 2 p.m.
