Jeff Beck, British guitar legend, dies at 78

That year, he recorded an album, Blow By Blow, with Beatles producer George Martin. Entirely instrumental, Beck’s mellifluous, lyrical guitar playing essentially replaced a lead vocalist’s parts, an approach he would adopt for most of the rest of his career.
